Case Study: Spectracolor Printing
Co.
| Our
sister company Spectacolor Printing needed a facelift.
After 35 years in business, their old logo and marketing
materials looked outdated. Join us for a guided tour
of the project we worked on with their staff.
Step
1. Planning
 |
Project Planning Worksheet
Understanding
your goals, target audience, look and feel and
project specifications allows us to understand
your business and give you the best results. This
worksheet allows us to define the project scope
and gives you the opportunity to express your
needs.
Our
client decided to do a complete graphic design
package with logo redesign, business cards, stationery,
presentation folder, labels and product sheets. |
Step
2. Identity Concepts
 |
Logo
Options
We always create 3-4 logo options for
the client to choose from. In this case, the client
wanted a design that was similar to what they
already had so we simply modernised the look,
keeping the colours and design recognizable.
After
a few revisions, our client chose the following:

Step
3. Illustration
 |
Illustration
Our client wanted to create a co. mascot
to add a personal and humorous touch to their
marketing materials. We created this "cheeky"
looking dachshund illustration to give their identity
flavour. Note: no clip art is used in our work!
In
order to tie in the concept of the dog, we came
up with the tag line "We'll go a long way
to please our customers"
|
Step
4. Collateral Materials
 |
Business
Cards
Once we agreed on the logo and illustration
work, we created several layout options for the
front and the back of the business cards.
|
 |
Stationery
and Labels
We used the logo and dog icon in the
layout of the stationery and labels, giving all
their materials a consistent look and feel.
|

|
Presentation
Folder
We designed a fantastic new presentation
folder for all their proposals and sales kits.
A presentation folder works well for companies
who want to customise their info for each client
- just mix and match the product sheets to suit
the occasion.

Product Sheet After
|
| Our
client's old product sheet needed some polish, especially
as it would be included in the new presentation
folder. This redesigned piece is clearer and more
professional. |
